The Everyday Diary

The girl who used to write.

At seven, my grandmother gave me a Little Mermaid journal. Ariel on the cover. My own little place to put everything.

Writing was my release through my teenage years. When my godmother died, I stopped. I was 27. Eleven years later, I want to write again—only this time, I’m leaving the pages open.

I don’t really know how this is supposed to connect with anyone. It’s my diary. Maybe it’s emotional masturbation. I just know I miss writing.

A pink mermaid-themed journal and pen sit beside a softly lit window.

A little mood-setting, not a photograph of my childhood diary.

A place to put it all.

The feelings, the memories, the new obsessions.

I’m not trying to turn any of this into advice. Some things I want to write about. Some things I want to make. Some things I just don’t want to forget.
